about

This is the first EP of remixes of tracks taken from Warp Technique’s stellar debut, “Make Animals Happy”.

First up is Australian producer, Sensient, who has been making a name for himself with his Zenon label, home to Tetrameth and Shadow FX, amongst others.

Next to weigh in is dub maestro International Observer, who strips the track back to its reggae roots, adding some of his trademarks sounds along the way.

Berlin’s A Bear Called Wellington and New Zealand’s Misled Convoy provide two ambient excursions with their versions.

Finally Warp Technique’s remix of Pitch Black’s “Sonic Colonic” is added on, since this stellar remix was overlooked amongst the plethora of tracks released by them as part of the “Rhythm, Sound & Movement” campaign.

Artist Profile

Formed in 2003, Warp Technique are a collective of producers & musicians based around the world. The group operates primarily from London and Berlin, with tracks emerging from a mixture of studio sessions and online collaborations with different artists.

Bill started producing music in 1992 when he formed Sonar Audio, a record label run with then musical partner Ben Garner (now working as Benny Ill of Horsepower Productions). They found fame on Harthouse Records as Bill&Ben, and since then he has worked in various styles from acid house to breakbeat, minimal techno to ambient, electro to dub. Projects he is currently involved in: Friends Electric, Makako Project (SambaLoco/Trama Recs Brasil) and Freeq Unique (Bitasweet Recs UK).

Warp Technique’s early recorded output was limited until recently to a remix of Pitch Black’s Big Trouble Upstairs, but 2008 saw a version of Arab Star being released as Asian Star (wrongly accredited to Warp Factor) on cult American label Waveform, and Make Animals Happy gracing Wakyo’s On A Dubmission Voume 2. Then in December, their debut album dropped to great feedback from fans and critics alike. More to come in ’10.
